1. Product Introduction

Rapid Troponin I Test is an immunochromatography based one step in vitro test. It is designed for qualitative determination of cardiac troponin I (cTnI) in human serum, plasma or whole blood specimens as an aid in the diagnosis of myocardial infarction.

Troponin I is part of a protein complex which regulates the contraction of striated muscle. In acute coronary syndromes, it can be detected in blood at 4 to 8 hours following the onset of chest pain, reaches a peak concentration at 12 to 16 hours, and remain elevated for 5 to 9 days.

A negative test result refers to a normal test, where troponin is not detected in the blood. Some doctors also consider a normal troponin test to put a patient in a lower risk category for any serious cardiac events within the following few weeks.
