1. Product Introduction

Rapid Toxoplasma IgG/IgM Combo Test is a rapid chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of antibodies (IgG and IgM) to Toxoplasma gondii in Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma to aid in the diagnosis of TOXO infection.

The diagnosis of toxoplasmosis is typically made by serologic testing. A test that measures IgG is used to determine if a person has been infected. If it is necessary to try to estimate the time of infection, which is of particular importance for pregnant women, a test which measures IgM is also used along with other tests such as an avidity test. In most cases, a negative toxoplasmosis test result means you have never been infected and therefore aren’t immune to the disease. A positive result could mean that you have an active infection, or it could mean that you were once infected and are immune to the disease. Additional tests can pinpoint when the infection occurred, based on the types of antibodies in your blood. Your doctor may advise pyrimethamine or sulfadiazine treatments if you have acute toxoplasmosis.
